THE O.E. ELLIS SOCIETY
OF GREATER KANSAS CITY
As with other private organizations, The O. E. Ellis Society does not accept applications for membership. Nominees are solicited and selected by the active members. The best way to be invited is: Don’t ask to be invited. Men who show some interest in the Society, and exhibit the common traits and interests in the larger community are the ones who get invited.

Invitation for membership into the O. E. Ellis Society is a selective process. Nominees often must be ‘Rushed’ more than once in order to demonstrate their commitment, mettle, and that they are a good ‘personality-fit.’ The Rush Chairman coordinates member nominations, Rush events, and presentation of eligible candidates for a vote (before the Officers and the Board of Directors). Obviously, it is helpful if the Rush Chairman believes you would be a contributing member and a good fit. It also helps if you’ve been around and met several of the guys.

The O. E. Ellis Society is not for ‘wall-flowers.' Once initiated to the O. E. Ellis Society, new members who get acclimated and enjoy the myriad benefits of membership are those who take it upon themselves to get involved. Whether with new initiate projects, with general membership events, with ‘unsanctioned’ OEE social gatherings, or all three (best idea), there are plenty of opportunities for self-starters to become enmeshed in the fabric of the O. E. Ellis Society.

Those who do are likely to find themselves, like the majority of members, valuing the Men of O.E. Ellis as some of their very best friends. The wives (“the O. ‘She’ Ellis” underground) have curiously strong bonds with one another as well. And this author can honestly say that the O. E. Ellis wives and girlfriends are some of the absolute best quality women in the city.

We welcome our newest brothers, the 2009-2010 Class of O.E. Ellis Society Initiates. We look forward to these outstanding men getting involved and growing with the Men of O.E. Ellis.
